Disappointed in Hatching eggs I bought, should I or shouldn't I

I once bought a bunch of eggs on eBay with PayPal . They arrived and were a disaster . they were very old and it was a mess. pictures were taken including the box and the shipping labels. we contacted eBay and got a refund for the amount of the eggs because we had pictures.
just a thought ,
Karen

I try not to buy anything from buyers I don't know unless PayPal is an option. I've only ever had to use the dispute a couple times in all the years I've had them, but without it I would have been out money. I use eBay quite a bit for my son's bday and Christmas and I feel more confident paying through PayPal.

This was a local person... who also advertises on ebay, but not where the eggs actually came from... is my current understanding.

We have had OK experience with ebay stuff, but I avoid it because even when buying and the seller sent the wrong product, we were responsible to pay return shipping... needless to say we didn't re-order from them. Sometimes your saving gets eaten. But that's not always true. So I guess we take it on a case by case basis. The PayPal is a nice comfort but does nothing in the situation I described as that IS ebays policy.

I know in her case, it was a different situation, I was just commenting on pay pal overall. Luckily so far, I haven't had to pay return shipping. Most small issues the sellers were very gracious and just re-sent a working product or were willing to send me a shipping label to send back. I have never gotten a wrong product through eBay. I did through amazon, but the seller was awesome and willing to send the right product with a shipping label to return the wrong one.

I have had Amazon refund me once. But it's true the sellers are USUALLY pretty good.

The latest batch that the breeder gave me is no good.

I've candled them and not a single one is developing. I'm so disappointed but at least I got two from the first set. I still can't believe that our of 21 lemon cuckoo niederrheiner hatching eggs only 2 developed and hatched. If anyone knows of a lemon cuckoo niederrheiner breeder that sells hatching eggs please let me know.

Sad to have a breeder, even that participates in BYC... providing that kind of service!

Sure accidents happen... but after seeing those dirty eggs... I'm not surprised.

Maybe they are still learning.

Can't speak to quality but here is a link to one breeder with eggs... http://www.brinkhavenacres.com/

and My pet Chicken... https://www.mypetchicken.com/catalo...ng-Eggs-Lemon-Cuckoo-Niederrheiner-p1675.aspx

Of course GFF only sells chicks that I know of. And honestly even MPC quality is going to be better than what you got already, I would imagine.

OHHHH... I have 3 SFH chicks that hatched so far under my FBCM broody. She got kicked out of her nest, I accidentally collected one of her eggs, and after 1 incident of her being kicked out and gone to another nest and I found cool eggs... so I expected a zero hatch rate... 3!!!

Now to see genders, my last was 7 out of 9 cockerels.

Good luck getting what you are looking for. I met challenges including people completely lying about their breed. But when you finally achieve sweet success, the effort was worth it.

I'm just glad when I looked them up just now that they were German and not Dutch... because I have to get dutch breeds for the connection it gives my Father in Love to his homeland!
