Thank you so much. All your vibes must have helped. I have a cuckoo out, more wellies pipping as well as Orps. The bator has been stablized for several hours and I am hoping we have no more casualties from this afternoon's trauma.

I appreciate all your kindness.

to each of you that took the time to offer support!

I had one the hen had pushed out from under her and was stone cold. The chick had piped the egg and I removed a nickle size hole in it to see what had happen. The chick was still alive. I put it under a lamp and ended up removing the rest of the shell my self. Chick made it and is a week old doing fine. So keep your chin up these little guys can be very resilant.

My coon hound sits staring at the small inside brooder waiting for
baby quail to escape. So far she has chewed up 2 Buttons and 2
Coturnix this year. She likes to catch them and hop up on the couch
to chew them.

I keep making modifications to the brooder cage. Quail chicks are
so darn small and flighty that they squeeze through holes smaller
than a quarter.

I'm not sure if this helps but chicks in the wild are a favorite food
for so many animals. They aren't very high on the food chain.
The chick never knew what happened.

Any more babies this morning?!?!
