Disciplining your birds????

http://www.wish.com/c/57ff58fa92e3d76879ad4be5 I think this would be good just for when they sleep inside on nights when it is raining or it is too cold for them. It would go in my living room with a few blankets in it for them to sleep in. The other night it was raining and they slept in my bedroom on a chair (I didn't have many other options) and kept me awake all night. Snowball kept crowing. I woke up with a headache the next day so bad that I had to miss a day of school. They are never sleeping in my bedroom again.
View attachment 1254352 this is the chair they slept on. It had a blanket on it to keep them comfy and to keep the poop off.
Oops! Wrong thread!

I let the chickens be chickens and work things out between themselves. I only recently disciplined a chicken because she kept trying to escape out the gate when I was filling the food/water. I pushed her out of the way several times and she kept at it, so I used my fingers to "peck" her a few times in hopes that she'd stay back from me for a minute. Honestly she is pretty bold in general and didn't really seem to care at all, but I can't have her hopping out when the dogs are waiting on the other side of the gate. The other thing I realized I have to look at it is my own behavior. This situation could have totally been avoided if I did the food and water before the pop door was open, and I'd left the dogs in the house.

I agree chicken to chicken aggression isn't something I would correct for. Only chicken to human.

I typically let chickens be chickens because I am not out there 24/7 babysitting them ... I do go out very often to check on them and see what's going on out there and make sure they're not getting in trouble like going around the porch to the neighbors house ... They're very tricky birds .. They figured out if they go around the house they can "escape".

I was just reading about people that discipline their birds. One person said they spank them for "being bad" and tell them no and another person said they hold them by the neck until their eyes roll back in their head to break them from bad habits.. I've never heard of anything like this. Does anyone else do this? Wouldn't it just frighten the birds??
I agree with Sourland I believe Some people like to dominate small animals because they lack the courage to try it on there own species.

I wonder if they would like to be suspended by their neck. I’d rather doubt it.

How mean!
That makes me so angry. People that do that need the shovel putting over there heads and legs breaking. Cruelty should not be tolerated in any form. You have to understand your animals and treat them in a way that they understand. Not the way a human understands what a shovel over the head means. If you or any body is struggling with animal behaviour there is plenty of good decent advice about. As for chickens this is the best place for any advice.
