Hello everyone!

So my boyfriend and I got 3 chickens all set up and comfy in our backyard about 6 weeks ago. Two of them are starting to lay very regularly. The other one is still on strike, but thats ok, she can take her time. One of the ones laying regularly is our easter egger. She makes pretty little blue eggs, they are a little asymmetrical, they have some calcium spots on them but those are becoming less and less. But every one that I open up has a discolored chalaza(I hope that's the right term?) It appears to be a much darker variant of the color her eggs are. It also seems to be a bit thicker than a typical chalaza. Any ideas what it could be?

:frow Hi @CandDPhilly Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos?

I'm sorry its so hard to see, this was the best I could do. The size of the mystery blob has gotten significantly smaller recently, but the discoloration is still there. There have been a few eggs that dont have it at all, so I'm guessing whatever it is is slowly clearing up? In anyone's opinion, would these eggs be safe to eat with this discoloration?
