Dishwashers

Do not buy a dishwasher with a tower!

You want one that has an arm at the bottom that pushes the water up onto the dishes, the second arm should be mounted to the bottom of the top rack and it will push water up into the top rack and also down onto the tops of the dishes below.

After being without a dishwasher for 3 years, and having one now for a year, I'm just happy to have it - and its a piece of JUNK!

Have fun shopping!

i worked at sears for years, keep in mine a whirlpool at sears is not the same as a whirlpool at some where else, they are made for sears. I would look at the same model at another store.

I also use the sanitizing feature and think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Also if you have a choice consider the quietist one in your range . Some of them you can hardly hear. My new one is realy quiet compared to what I was used to.

When we upgraded our kitchen, all I wanted in a dishwasher was the QUIET one.
We got a GE profile an it is great! VERY quiet, which is important because our kitchen is open to the great room and dining room.

I hope I'm not too late to warn you -- Don't buy an Asko! They have been frought with problems, including catching on fire! Now, ours has never caught on fire, and I am sure you could find someone who has had a good experience, but the hassles we've had and cost of repairs are not worth it. I highly advise getting the latest Consumer Report issue on dishwashers. It also helps to know who makes which brands. In other words, a Viking dishwasher used to be an Asko with a different door, etc. Maytags are not necessarily what they used to be. Find out who truly makes the brand you're looking at. I've heard GE is giong out of the appliance business altogether.

aHHH! I went with a GE! Well, if they go out of appliance business, I imagine someone has to pick up the warranty, right?

So, I went with the GE Built in Stainless CleanSteel Dishwaher from HomeDepot. On sale for $359. I have a problem with immediate gratification when I'm going to make a big purchase like this, so I wanted the machine NOW, no waiting for delivery. They only had white in stock. I could care less about color. The friend I got to go with me (drives a van, hence immediate gratification), helped me understand the value of waiting for the stainless. Because the stainless is on sale, it's actually less expensive than the white at the moment. We don't have to carry it (but we will have to install). So, I guess it's a win. it is towerless, but it does have three wash arms, which is pretty cool. The one i have now has ONE.

So, delivery is Thursday. I'll let you all know how things go. Thanks again for helping me with advice on all the options out there!!
