Disinfecting carpets?

Has anyone used Accel Disinfectant, Trifecant disinfectant, Virkon or maybe even Oxine on soft surfaces like carpets? I need to disinfect my carpets and of course I can't use bleach

I read this at sheltermedicine.com: "There are now disinfectants such as Trifecant and Accel that are reliable against panleukopenia and can even be used (with care) on carpeted surfaces" But, I don't want to damage our light tan colored carpet.

I do have a carpet cleaner with heated water to use. Any suggestions?

when I use my carpet cleaner I had a bit of lysol in the brown bottle. Not sure what if that would work for what you need.

I have not used any of those, sorry but I have used this homemade recipe for years without issue

1/4 cup lemon-scented ammonia
1/4 cup white vinegar
3 teaspoons ivory or 3 teaspoons any clear dish washing soap (non-moisturizer)
hot water

Directions:

Stir together the first 3 ingredients into a large (gallon-plus sized) container.

Add water; enough to equal one gallon.

Follow steam-cleaner manufacturer's directions for operating instructions.

Did you call the vet and see if they had a recommendation? I imagine there has to be something, the only thing I could find was hard surface cleaning and throwing the carpets out. That is not feasible with a house full of carpet so there must be something..Ask about the ammonia and vinegar combination possible may be enough with HOT water.

There are also a lot of different steam cleaners available now. People use them for bathroom fixtures and floors. Ask if steam will work.

Steam will work if it's hot enough like over 240 f. I may buy a steam cleaner for home use.

I also found a disinfectant called Accel and it's a hydrogen peroxide based system, but is ok for most surfaces and carpets. I read an abstract scientific report that says accel can even be used in carpet cleaners. It's suppost to be effective against parvo type viruses and many others. I'm going to order some to try. I am cleaning like crazy, but it's a little overwhelming. The kitten really didn't throw up or mess anywhere other than her litter box, but it's impossible to tell where the virus was spread by touch alone. Drapes, pillows, kid's toys, etc. And we could of spread it to just about every surface of the house. So, we won't be getting any kittens for a long while. It should be safe to bring in fully vaccinated cats with at least 2 or 3 doses of the vaccine.
