Do I need a spray or something to disinfect my coop when I clean it? I already have a spray that gets rid of fleas and ticks but I don't know if I need anything for germs and infections. If I do need something for disinfecting, does anyone know where I can get it?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are cleaning up after a flock you had to cull because of some disease like MG.

There is no need to disinfect the coops and pens. Chickens need to develop natural immunities to diseases, if you disinfect the coop and pens, it could hamper their ability to do so. It's fine if their coop and pens are not sparkly clean, a little bit of nasty is alright. Chickens are just that, chickens. They need food, water, and shelter. And they are not too particular about the shelter.

I was thinking about doing a yearly sanitize with ACV...is this a good idea or should I not worry about it? My coop stays pretty clean because it has a pull-out poop drawer with the litter and welded wire floor above so chickens never step in their poo. The run is all sand so it's like a giant cat litter box. The duck house stays pretty clean. I only have 2 ducks and I am doing a deep straw litter. It stays dry enough in Boise and the chickens are constantly turning it over for me because they like to go in and scratch it. Suggestions?

I use oxine ah. It's a fabulous and safe product. It's a little expensive, but I've had my gallon over a year. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I use it in the waterer to keep the bacteria down, wash eggs with it and disinfect the coop/roosts once a week.

I'm pretty obsessive about keeping my coop and run clean also. I think more so then most people. Anyway, oxine is the best product other then vetwrap for chickens.
