Disinfecting dirt floor coops

My Turkey had coccidia or black head disease. I need to disinfect the dirt floor of the coop. What is the best chemical to use and how?

Coccidia oocysts exist naturally in soils. When the environment gets excessively wet and the population density is too high, the numbers of coccidia oocysts can explode to the point it causes disease in the birds.
They may have become infected from the run just as easily.
I would turn the soil in the coop to dry it out then add fresh dry bedding.
It really is not possible to disinfect soil.
Look to remove all excessively muddy conditions and access to stagnant water.

Also they are barn stalls that are secured and dedicated to the birds. No other farm animals can get in them.

If you use a woodstove, save your ashes. It helps with smell, bacteria, and helps balance Ph of the soil.

I think that you should contact your local Ag Extension to see what they recommend. They know your area, it's soils, it's ecology, etc. best.

Ditto Dat....especially if it's not known the exact organism.
