At the art place at the Minnesota state fair, there is a painting of a bunch of chicken heads, nothing but the severed butchered heads lying on the ground.
Kinda disturbing in my opinion. Realistic, a part of life, yes, but I gotta wonder what the person who felt inspired to paint it was thinking about.

Perhaps they wanted people at the fair to think about the fate of those fried chicken-whatevers they just grabbed at the midway was?

I don't know if I'd find it disturbing on the artists part; after all it's part of art to invoke a response.
But... I'd wonder about the person that would hang it in their house.

Imp- maybe it's abattoir art.

I agree with Imp. Art is getting stranger and stranger... Who would buy that? Seriously?
If I mount a dead cat on my wall, would that be art?

Art to me, can exist to the beholder or the maker (the process of creating is art to some). I don't care much about trying to define art, I just know what I like/am interested in and what I don't. If someone tells me, "ha, it's art cause I made you mad"...okay. Still not paying $550 for it. XD

It's unusual for art like that to be shown at the state fair, they usually have certain guidelines restricting certain subject matters.

I used to be in the "art world" as a fine artist a lot when I was younger and there are people who are willing to pay top dollar for unusual art. Some like gross, disturbing, violent and pornographic subject matter and pay thousands of dollars for stuff like that. When I was an art student, instructors pushed students heavily against traditional and/or realistic art. Many galleries promote a lot of artists that push boundaries or make a statement.

That's why I am not part of the "art world" that much anymore.
