Dividers in the incubator

Would a small cardboard box work? I’m still 13 days away from hatching but I’d like to separate my Indian Runner eggs from my mixed breed at hatching time. Otherwise I could make a small hardware cloth basket.. I have 11 Indian Runner eggs left, so it won’t have to be huge

Cardboard does not work well with water. Humidity = water absorption.

I picture you having an egg or two in a small cardboard box inside of the incubator. If you poked tons of holes in it so it doesn't stop the circulation in there, it might work, but it'll probably absorb some of the humidity too so at least you're doing it soon enough so adjustments could be made if needed.

credit the picture to @AnimalCrazed who sort of did that.

The cardboard box worked great for me in a pinch. It was a thin soda box with slits cut for air circulation, it didn't absorb any water because this incubators water tray is on the side and not underneath the box. Almost all the eggs inside the box hatched. I have a new plan for my next hatch, I'm going to use small plastic bins tuned upside down in the incubator.

Okay... here is the final version! I wanted to separate my Olive Egger backcross from the rest of the Marans and F1 Olive Eggers. I cut off the rim to make the plastic bin just a bit shorter so it would fit better and I think this is what I'm going to do from now on.
