Dixie Chicks

I dont know if it's because violet is top of the pecking order or what but the chicks have totally intigrated into the flock outside..noone bothers them I have seen them side by side drinking or eating food ..noone pesters them....I was super surprised with that I figutred violet would have been hell on wheels not letting ANYONE close

Yes we did!! We drove out to Victoria to drop off the dog with the sitter and see family, then we flew out from there. DH had to do the entire drive back (~1600km, 18hrs of driving) because I would have turned our truck around the first chance I got. I miss British Columbia... especially Vancouver Island.
ohhh wow you were super close we can see victoria from where I live on the porch :) if it's clear

That's good! Nothing better then a protective mother hen.

I just want to pack up my animals, (dog, sheep, chickens) and move back to the west coast. Never again have to worry about cold temperatures... Oh yeah and I'd bring my DH.

St. Lucia was nice, but I did miss my dog...and the farm animals. Kind of weird though: cows, horses, goats etc all were tied out. No fences, just a long rope to a stake in the ground....

Serious?? We went to Ogden Point one night, I should have waved!

Can you imagine the brilliant trades we could do when I move back?

hopefully in another year or 2. The further south we can stay on the island the closer we are to family. We do want an acreage. However the further up island we go the more likely we are able to find and afford what we dream of having. 10+ acres to farm are hard and expensive to come by.

If we can built a house here this year we could potentially be shopping for property on the island by next spring.

@hennible
   did I see you said the other day you were going to need to process the  nyhal chicks for freezer camp soon?

My hatch before those from December 4th, they're getting rowdy... So I moved the younger ones and all the girls into the greenhouse and bought the boys a little more time alive so they can get bigger and see some grass before they die...
Two of my bantams turned out to be a Roos ( Jem you noticed the long tail feathers on the one, you where right) any way they but heads and it's really funny to watch their little mini scraps now that the big boys are no where near them....
