Dixie Chicks

@Beer can , What I noticed about the pic is that you still have SNOW!!!

Sorry for you. We are cleaning coops and working outside today too. Suppose to rain again tomorrow.

Question about my new OE chicks. I didn't pay much attention last night when I picked them up, but shouldn't they have greenish legs? My other 2 adult hens have green legs. ????

Lol, that's the driveway, hardly anyone have paved ones around here. The road at the end is a secondary tar and stone road. Might have one vehicle a hour go by. There is another driveway running parallel with ours and goes to a 80 acre clover and alfalfa field behind us and a cabin.

The snow is mostly gone, the others were out yesterday, and seem mad they are not today. I'm not losing any more to predators.

@Outpost JWB they could have green legs if ameracauna is in the mix.
There are several different breeds that can produce OE. Any blue egg laying breed (with 2 blue genes)crossed with dark brown layer will result in OE.

Bama, if it's homozygotically blue laying... but pretty much yeah. I'm excited to see what we get from our OE eggs. Statistically, we should get one medium brown layer, and one slightly lighter green layer, and two should be boys. I'm hoping we have some amazing luck and all four turn out to be girls though. That would be nice. Then we would be up to capacity again, otherwise I'm going to have to hatch out another batch again at some point.

I crossed my single comb EE roo with a classic hatchery EE and their first pullet just started laying... her legs are yellow with black overlay on just the front and she just started laying awesome olive colored eggs... will see if I can get pics later...
