Dixie Chicks

It would be cool having a 200%hatch rate.
I have a neighbor with a dominique hen that lays double yolkers consistantly.

Double yolkers have an issue.... One chick is near the aircell and the other chick is in the pointy end.... at best without assistance one will hatch without suffocating.

But usually they both die in the process. So Double Yolkers have to be assisted in order to hatch. Then the chicks are much smaller than a single yolker....

There are You Tube videos on assisting a double yolker hatching.

I wouldn't bother with it... plus, usually double yolkers are a sign of something being wrong. You don't want to use that kind of a bird for breeding.

So, the trail cam is set up in the bunny pen. She should be going in there in about 4-5 hours, so tomorrow we might have some interesting footage.

Both my brownleghorns laid consistent super jumbo 86 gram double yolkers daily all winter. Then they quit for a few weeks and now have been laying daily large single yolk eggs. They are all laying quite well, except for the welsummer. She hasn't laid in a couple months, I'm about ready to put her in the soup pot.

Eggs in the bator are rocking! Even the double yolker!
