@Alaskan I kept mine that was cracked. Sealed it with some wax. The crack went along the entire length of the egg. Some small outside impact.
Just be careful you don't burn your hair with the candle should you forget where you placed the darn thing.

If its a "rare" egg I'd use it. What's to loose?

@BriardChickens , Hope your ok! Hair on fire smells yuck! Do you need a "new hair-do" now, or did you catch it in time? My daughter's hair caught on fire at her 3rd bday party. Luckily we caught it quickly. AHHH! Birthday cake candles....

@Alaskan , last year I bought hatching eggs, OE and BCFM. I candled them the best I could, the eggs were so dark was super hard to tell. In the end I had 6 eggs and 1 hatched. I have 2 BCFM hens, and at one time was excited about the breed. I have since gave up on that breed and moved on. LOL!

Just checked on the injured barred rock hen and CCL roo. They are hanging in there. They both have diarrhea. Probably stress. And the barred rock still has a full crop. Not good. I have never successfully treated sour crop. They end up dying of aspiration. I am going to put a small amount of ACV in the water and investigate their injuries closer today. Poor babies

. DH's dog is still missing. I think I failed to mention that. Also, as some of you know, this is not my first go around with Pepper (the dog) attacking the chickens. UGH! It most worries me that now she is at large and who knows what will happen. One time she was gone nearly a week and when she came back, she had whip worm. She adds much stress to my life.....

I saw on that tv show 'Dirty Jobs' where he went to a turkey farm. Well those big white turkeys can't breed naturally so they gave him a bottle with a straw going in and one going out. They made him suck the sperm into the bottle with his mouth. Gross!!
I think I would invest in some sort of battery operated one.

@Outpost JWB my hair is about waist long and the way I had it up I burned the tips off. They were in need of a cut anyway. Lol saved myself a trip, hahaha!
