yeah, I'll have ducklings popping out of eggs at all different times!@BriardChickens I think the eggs might be ok least I am hoping for you....sounds like you are going to have babys everywhere soon![]()
Been busy gathering seeds for the up and coming garden , a few varieties left to find and then wait for warmer weather ......winter's cold seems to be coming back ? Got my broiler chicks as well as ten Nickolas White meat turkeys for fall slaughter ( Chickens should be ready by mid July ) plus will be getting four piglets as well in June or July ......price of meat is way to high to afford buying off the shelf , so decided I'd raise some pork for slaughter , keep back three as breeding stock to make it easier come next year as it seems piglets are a rare oddity to find thanks to the huge factory hog farms . Gotta build a small barn to keep them in through the winter , will be post and beam style with three pens to allow for farrowing come time .Otherwise ? one day at a time .........but thanks for askingso you rehomed all of your chickens already @hennible ?

I will keep what I want for breeders, sell everyone else that would be useful in breeding programs, sell off extra (generally cull) hens as layers, and eat anyone left over.so whats gonna happen with all them chicks and ducklings?
well guess be nice to have him back and handling her regularly again yes?@Amberjem
I just got done with a mad dash to the house. My farrier finally called and hes going to trim my horse either Monday or Tuesday. He used to live in Mexico with his wife and zip over the border with his tools to do several clients in my area. Hes a heavy equipment operator and got an offer he couldnt refuse up around Palm Springs and Los Angeles...
So he packed his family up into a travel trailer and parked em in a mobile home park up close to work. He would make a weekend road trip to come over and do his horses like every six weeks... Katee can go eight weeks sometimes more... Worked out .... but his job finally ended and now hes moving back I suspect.... I called him about three or four weeks ago to find out his schedual... He usually calls me but I looked at the calander and Katee had been trimmed sometime after Thanksgiving last year.
Her hooves are about three inches too long... With a one inch thick hoof wall they stand up pretty well.... LOL like shes on platform shoes. She sheds out her sole at eight weeks so we usually try to get her trimmed out about then... at that time her foot is about an inch long... easier for him to not have to pare down the sole.... But right now her hooves are beginning to crack... shes already broken off a flare and looks really really bad... Through experience I have come to learn this is only cosmetic for her. Gawd I wish I had nails like hers...
The toe cracks will disappear mostly and what is left will close up because there isnt flaired hoof spreading it out... All good.
So I drove up today to drop off 80 bucks placed in a drink cup with a lid and put in the trash can where her halter is.... Normal trim for a regular horse is 40 bucks... Normal trim for Katee is 60 bucks but when he has to drive from palm springs I put in another twenty for fuel.
Hes an excellent farrier and used to be a horse trainer too. He loves Katee and she lives him... its sooo worth it for Johnny to come and trim her.
For what its worth at one point I was unable to find any farrier up on the mountain... for a year. She went a full year and didnt look any worse than she does now.

Jem, yeah, they're gaining size like crazy, I think they have almost doubled in size in under two weeks.
