Dixie Chicks

so did you get them for the novelty or do you use the feathers or sell the chickens or or or or? thats interesting about the breeder set up for them..........are they meaty birds? what they do with the carecass dog/cat food? I mean if they are after the feathers exclusively?
they lay jumbo size eggs so figure the eggs will be of good use. I've heard they're about like leg horns in body size, but so far they definitely don't grow like leg horns as chicks. They are chunky! I honestly think they would be an OK meat bird, but we will see. I've got people who want the feathers as they molt. They're mostly barred patterns.

jem, polish were originally great layers, and then breeders bred them for their looks and lost their production qualities, same with white face black Spanish, they were known for laying lots of extra large white eggs, then breeders for show focused on the exaggerated white clown face, and ended up with not so good layers.
I imagine my polish lays so great because she came from a hatchery.

Wohoo, hunter co-worker is coming over after work today to check out what space we are working with and what to use for trapping this fox.

It could also be a weasel or skunk, we'll find out soon enough!
