Yep... been hit or miss here too... either none or I get ping pong balls... or hens trying to go broody and die of heat stroke... :/

Way too flockin' hot lately...
luckily it has cooled down here. Getting a few more eggs then last week but not as many as usual still.

I've got 10 broodies now...

Big new garden, thanks to deep litter. Big pond for the ducks thanks to my shovel. They love it.

Looks nice @hennible . We are going to dig our own pond also. Thinking about renting a bobcat for that job.

Moved around chickens yesterday because they are outgrowing their current pens. Most are happy with the move, but the 2nd to youngest group are smarty pants! I've had 5 or 6 groups in the same pen they are now in. Within an hour, DD and I had to catch 12 of them & put them back

. The last group didn't do that, nor none of the prior groups. OH DEAR! So, trip to Lowe's today after church- to buy more staples and wire.

Had someone tell me yesterday their friend would like to buy some pullets or laying hens from me. Asked what I would charge. I said I would give her a deal and sell a few layers for $7 each & or pullets for $5 each. She passed on the info to her friend and I never heard back. I'm guessing she thought the price was too high.......??? I am not about to go down any lower on my pricing. I would usually sell my layers for $10 each. Just thought I would do a favor since my friend said the woman's flock was recently reduced dramatically from raccoon attacks.

Gotta love playing musical pens, lol... @Outpost JWB those are very cheap prices!! Usually layers around here are 15 and up... 25 for decent pures... most roos go for 10...

JWB, maybe there was some other reason...like the friend was trying to deal with the raccoon problem before adding to the flock? Maybe she found a different source she committed to before she got back in touch with your friend to whom you quoted prices? It would be hard to believe anyone would think those prices were high!

Gosh outpost, that's cheap! I get $10 to $12 for young pullets minimum and I get $15 to $25 for layers! Purebred stuff for breeding goes even higher!
