ohh so I almost forgot...with all the traveling trying to get a more automated system up for my chicken caretaker was jumped to the top of the need to be done list...and 50 came home with this automatic waterer from tractor supply..think it is typically used for horses...anyways it's a metal dish that connnects to the garden hose and the other end I attached to the chain link fence...has a float value to refill the water as it emptys... has worked well for watering the chickens while we have been away......and it was only 20 bucks...I'll try to get some pictures sometime today with the millions of things we need to get done..........

oh @Outpost JWB didnt realize you were dealing with MG did you have it before or did it enter your flock with the new arrivals this year? do pumkin seeds really help work as a wormer or is it like DE earth as a wormer myth?

LOCO WEED... Its hard to get rid of and looks like peas. The livestock wont eat it usually unless they are very hungry.. But I need to get up there sometime and spray some round up on it...

Here in my desert they are Yellow flowered and have multi leaves....

they put down deeeep roots too.

seed pods

A taste by goats or horses wont hurt them. But if they seek it out and eat it in large enough quantities it causes Neurological problems
If you can get the animal away to where they cant get at it they recover evenutally if it was a mild poisoning. Horses thought are more susceptible.

Twenty bucks is a very very good price. I like the ones that have a float valve in them. Many of the boarding places I have experience with have the kind that have a paddle the horse has to push with their nose to operate. Poor Katees whole face was too wide for one so she had to pucker her lips and stick her upper lip out to push the lever to drink. I bought her a cast iron one wide enough for draft horses. A$$hat care taker WELDED it to the pipe corral because she would push it around.

You can make one for yourself as well... Good for any livestock. Thats what I use. STock tank float that clamps to any water container.... I use feed tubs for the chickens.... works famously.

Eenie meenie miney and moe ......brown one is Moe , black with gold marking Miney , middle spotted on the left is meenie for obvious reasons , and eenie is the far spotted one ..........they have grown since this was taken ,

Two might stay as breeding stock , other wise they are food .....Birkshire cross I was told ? just love spotted pigs so these fit the bill .They are being feed organic feed , wheat and barley , corn .....slop and dry as well , and they will be grazing on grass etc as well as rooting ......not pushing them with growers .Used to have a hundred razor backs years ago , love the meat !
