Pickle recipe in the bible, I just was told by wife this morning that it is in the bible husbands are supposed to make their wives coffee, it's in Hebrew....lol.
Yes, lol your funny. I wish I was one of those people that can open and find any verse. Or be able to spout out by memory verses. Just can not do it.
Really, I wish I knew how many times pickles were mentioned in the Bible. They really are there in description.

Only when they are older. I can not tell til the males tails curl and the girl gives up eggs. Then I know.
The Cayuga's were starting to quack and do the raspy quack about 1 or 2 months before the tail curl so I just put red or blue zap straps around a leg. Turns out I was right!

My lovely Ancona that is laying did gift me with an egg yesterday. I saw an egg in the nest box early yesterday morning but figure I missed the green EE chicken egg from the day before. When I picked it up, it had the smooth egg shell texture. Same thing again this morning. Another egg in the lowest nest box. I guess she makes her way up into the lowest chicken nest box! It's about a foot off the ground. This means she also lays before 6 am!

I've not posted in awhile....been busy. Lost 8 total pullets & cockerels last week. Started treating them again for coccidiosis because I seen blood in the poop. Sure enough, the deaths have slowed down, at least the past couple days. The pen they are in is on the bare ground. No real way to sanitize and clean 100%. Their next move is to the big coop and I don't want to cross contaminate especially with the problems I am having with MG back there!

The chickens are all molting and the rabbits are shedding. Looks like a raccoon attack back there. LOL!

In good news, I bought 2 hanging feeders at the feed store because I was under my budget this month

, so I used the extra money to buy the feeders. Hung them up and filled them about 1/2 way. The chickens acted like some kind of food fairy had come by. They ate like pigs then fell over with their full crops and dust bathed. It was awesome. Hoping the feeders cut down on feed costs. I currently throw the feed on the bare ground. This should make it healthier for them, and easier for me.

My friend sent me this post. It's truly appropriate for the molt mine are going thru. We have not had to take extreme measures and buy eggs at the grocery store, yet. You all have a great day.

last night and this morning was a busy time

This year is going to be very interesting....

I mentioned Dean decided to switch majors from Astronomy to Geology... This semester is his first with Geology classes.

His psychologist and I have been holding him together this past year.... and when he found out he could go for a BA in Geology he jumped.

They have already done a couple of field trips One To Cowls mountain... Right here in Santee... Which is the highest in San Diego County... And one field trip to Solona Beach to look at the cliffs. He NEEDS this getting out of the classroom stuff. And while hes still having anxiety over the social aspect hes beginning to learn how to work through it... YAY.

So this next trip (he left this morning) is to the Gand Canyon... the group is going to hike the Kaibab trail

Dean is NOT fit enough to take the hike. But he may go to the first rest stop and turn back because the flipping trail is fourteen miles. First rest stop is one mile down. Nice part is the professor knows Dean loosing weight and has just lost 100 pounds himself. He doesn't have to do the hike... But from base camp he can take all sorts of shuttles to various places along the rim and take his photos...

So with all Deans OCD and Anxiety he followed the check list for the trip to the Nth degree. He bought a Tent, a Tarp for under the tent, a sleeping bag good down to 30 degrees, an LED Coleman Lantern, a Day pack, Hiking boots, a Hat, First aid kit, Gloves, inflatable mattress, and air pump. WE had one duffel... wasn't nearly big enough. I had a duffel for packing an artificial tree in... He used that... The thing is five feet long and he got everything in that... Including the Coleman Lantern IN its box. (protection) he also filled the little duffel and the day pack. All in all about 75 pounds worth of gear...

I couldn't direct him because I have NEVER camped...ever. Last night he got the big duffel in the car and was obsessing that the handles might snap off... one inch webbing... LOL. I assured him the only thing I was worried about was the zipper. So I had him run bungee cords around the ends. Just as he went to bed last night he said... "****... I forgot to pack pillows." I was taking him to San Diego State this morning so He asked me to remind him in the morning.

Knowing me I know I would have forgotten... So after he went to bed I drew up a note for him and put it in his chair

LOL... He stuffed TWO pillows in that red duffel... But on the way to school he started flipping out because he forgot he burrito. He had bought a Carne Asada burrito to split between breakfast and lunch and left it in the refrigerator.

So this morning at about seven am we hit the service roads for the college... NO parking through out... but near the loading docks we stopped he hopped out and Unloaded... Last I saw of him he had the red duffel in his right and the white duffel in his leaft and his back pack on headed down the side road for the loading docks.

The service road through San Diego sTate meanders and shows you all the other places and very very old ancient class rooms along the way. I passed another Geology studen coming out of campus with Five back packs in tow... One on her back and one on each arm and one in each hand... I did not see a tent. Dean did good... There is one ex military guy who is bringing a six man tent... So I am certain Dean isnt bringing an inordanant amount of gear.

They will load the gear on a flatbed for the four classes going and a caravan of Vans will make the journey to the Grand Canyon... There will be various people going of MANY physical levels so I am certain Dean will NOT be the only one staying on the rim.... They will be there till Sunday.

I am excited for him. The teacher is bringing some high powered binoculars so they can look at the moon Geology while they are there... and he announced to the class that if they want to know anything about the moon... they were to ask Dean..... LOL.. no pressure there...

Deb, so super excited for him!

Thanks I am very excited for him as well.... Not only did he step out of his comfort range to ride on the transports but this is the very first time hes gone anywhere without one of his friends along.

He can text me through email... and visa versa. I dont do text on the phone... I am hoping he will send me a text when they get there... Around sunset.

I been to the Grand canyon about three times. Once at about six or seven years old... Then once with a Girlfriend on a mad dash four day weekend... Not only did we do The Carlsbad Caverns but we did White sands Crater natonal park AND the Grand Canyon. At the Grand Canyon we arrived at sunset... got a hotel room crashed then got up in time to see sun rise... AND there was snow... it was awesome.

Then the last time Mom Dad and Dean and I took a road trip to the Grand Canyon through Williams AZ... At that time Dean was nutzo for trains.. So we stayed in Williams and caught a steam engine that took us to the Grand Canyon park... We were even Robbed by Train Robbers on horse back... it was AWESOME. The trip was a package deal and busses met us and took us several places along the rim.. Then we took the train back. Probably the best vacation... and the one and only vacation the whole family ever took. Dad died about three years later.

Awesome deb! I would love to visit the Grand Canyon someday. I'd like to do the donkey tour. Watching YouTube vids of it though I don't know if I could handle it lol.
I'm right now reading a book 'Finding Everett Ruess', interesting but kinda dull. He wandered alone with burros when he was a teenager through the southwest in the early 1930s doing paintings and blockprint engravings. He ventured deep into what was then little known 'wilderness' of the Grand Canyon and other sites. He disappeared without a trace in the Utah desert at age 20.
