Dixie Chicks

by the way I had a friend do a "fund me" for getting surgery for her horse. she found a donor which would match all the money.

to the tune of about seven thousand dollars total. The vet chipped in too so that was only the price of meds and surgical equipment and after care.

The mare was self desctructing becauise of pain. Tearing down barn stalls and fences by kicking. She was always moody but as she got older she got moreviolent. They Laprosciptically removed a tumor on her ovariy and opted to do a full hystorectomy. The day after the surgery The light in the mares eyeys turned soft the pain was gone... except the normal pain of surgery.... she stopped figting and setteled in on recovery.

That's awesome! Glad the horse got better.

Been checking in periodically.....just been busy. Ordered some spring chicks yesterday!

Speckled Sussex, French marans, and crested cream legbar. Super excited, but I set ship date later because it's only 8F (-13C). Weather has been so unpredictable.

Another high note, is the girls took a 4 month break from laying, but now they are starting back. I was worried about frozen eggs, then a RIR went broody! She keeps then warm. Just hate to see such hard work in these temps. Trying to make sure she gets extra food & water.

You all have a happy valentines day!

my left lower lip is twitching... just a little

Maybe it's twitching because you are healing........:) DH had Bell's palsy and my father had it twice. They told father that it was due to sleeping with a fan on him. DH said they told him same thing. They both have healed 100%. It does closely resemble a stroke though. Very odd how our bodies react and recover.

About lent.......:weee. I was raised Baptist. They do not practice lent. Then I worked at a Methodist church for over 6 years. Some Methodist practice lent.....Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Maudy Thursday, Good Friday, penance, prayer. I've studied it, practiced it and now, I practice finding the best fish fry on Fridays! You do not have to be religious to eat good food. (But I should add, I do thank God for the good food!) We have other motives besides good food. Last Friday we went to our local fire department's fish fry. I like the feeling of helping to support certain organizations especially in my community.

Fish fries are so much more than fish for those of you who have not been. Most have raffle drawings, games, some have music, some have all different types of food (fish, shrimp, chicken, hot dogs, even burgers). They all have fellowship and a chance to meet others. In my experiences, it's a good time.:D
