Dixie Chicks

I have been in a panic..

Supid people are not buying my chicks... No way I want to raise 50 chicks in the house until summer

Also, getting goat pen etc. set up, AND actually cleaning out car (you know, like removing broken glass), and in a panic wondering how to:

1. Keep car from becoming permanently toxic after having goats in it for 12 hours ... Thinking tarp. Duct taped up sides...

2. Keep goats in back of car so they do not try to jump into my lap while I am driving.

did your eggs hatch? and did you win the egg auction the other day? can you borrow a dog crate or something? are these goats babys or what?

Tarp is good idea... we hauled goats in a station wagon when I was a kid... don't ask...

All I can suggest is put leashes on them and close the ends in rear doors so they can't jump in your lap... otherwise they will!

Good luck...

I think spring fever is slower to hit ppl this year

Just got really super good news, finally!!! Awful, horrible, irresponsible dog owning neighbors/non-relatives got served with eviction papers...

Rocking on the eviction papers.

As to chicks, two different people up here brought in giant chick orders (like 200 per breed) and so are selling them at "undercutting the backyard breeder market prices" coupled with market flooding. -sigh-

My first two sets of eggs have finished hatching, a few stragglers are still enjoying the heat of the incubator...

I have two more sets cooking, one of the sets are bama's eggs.

I am thinking I will wait a bit before outting in any more eggs.

As to goats: I am getting two in milk milk goats, and one baby boy.

Yeah, I was super counting on these chicks having been sold, to help with the cost of the goats.. Nope. I am gunna make just barely $100, and that is with me slashing prices on the males, and I will only be selling about 1/3 of what I have. :(

I had hoped to make $300....

Al, on the other hand, you're going to be having a lot of chicken for dinner next fall...

Ravyn, glad you're getting rid of the troublemakers.

Beautiful weather here, sun is shining and it's a couple degrees below freezing, just came back in from walking the dogs. Soon I'm gonna go get the car from the shop, it'll be nice to have it working again.

Also, we had the downstairs bunnies go pay a visit to their groom once again, so in a month we'll have had processed the six little ones down there, and we should have quite a lot of mini bunnies once more. The downstairs kits are 12 weeks by now, they have an OK size, but I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more meat on them still. I guess winter has taken it's toll on their growth.
