when mine get that far and don't get out I cant keep my hands off them. When I do leave them without assistance, they always die.I think my new gennis 1588 will stop that problem

IMHO, the more sophisticated and automatic the incubator, the less the impetus to hover over the incubator and wring one's hands. I mean, if it's taken care of for you (turning, humidity, temps) and is steadfast, then what's the point of worrying about it? I'd like to find an incubator that you just set the eggs and it knows on Day 18 to stop turning and ups the humidity. Just set eggs and come back in 3 weeks for chicks... Cool!

Here's my new babies. I ordered them from Meyer Hatchery. 1st time mail ordering chicks. So far, so good. They packed a heat pad in with them. I got 11 SS, 5 white leghorn ( I want white eggs

to add to my color palette), 6 black jersey giants & 4 Buff Orpingtons, 1 "Meal Maker".

My only complaint about Meyer is that their Jerseys don't get very big. My 4 year old Black Australorp is bigger than my nearly one year old Jerseys. I won't compaire them to my buckeyes and Chantecler. They're much higher quality, so of course they're bigger.

Lol
A good broody hen, not just any old chicken. I personally have had terrible luck with broodys.... One chick hatches out of 10, she eats the eggs, get off too soon, abandons her chicks early or eats them when they hatch... That's what I've had happen with 4 differnt hens.

I dont think I wouldnt stare at it even then it's the anticipation that has me staring at it now lol

I love that pic of @Outpost JWB dont you think they might grow more? I know they are slower growers or thought they were?
