so I decided to slip the Easter chicks in with my broody hen in the middle of the night....they are in there with her now last I heard was her making cooing noises at them....... she was pretty rock solid mesmerized broody this go around and she has been trying all winter and spring to sit and brood......
Trail cam confirmed, tracks I saw in the snow the other day. Houston we have a problem. Now to debate how the problem is to be solved. Coop is not predator proof as far as if it was smart wouldn't take much to dig under fence or little coop.
...well woke up this morning and this is what I found! fry is firmly buried under her staying warm......and she is very protective torwards them so far everything is looking good with them... so My bamachick is being a mama now
Glad you found the predator before it found your coop. Not that it's going to be easy to sleep tonight, or any day til you catch her. Have a heart traps? Contact game warden for out of season nuisance permit? You've got decisions to make......good luck.
