Dixie Chicks

I tried the clay pot heater (tea light candles) a few times in the house last year when our electric was out in the middle of winter. It didn't really work. I had more than one going in the bathroom and the temp didn't change.

The sun has made an appearance here today and I am sure the girls would like to free range! Headed out there to let them out. Talk to you all later.

So this is how my day is going:

Meanwhile, oldest is working on midterm finals and when I say working I mean not working. UGH! How can anyone just stare at a screen that long and not just say HELP?

My eldest is the same... makes me want to rip out what is left of my hair......
I think we'll be looking at the dyson too.. I just hope it can handle my dogs hair.. it's up to 12" long, so when that clumps together under the couch..... some more research required! My friend has had really good experience when she needed a warranty replacement part for hers.

I walk away to do some work for 20 minutes (supervisor is teaching me how to build high pressure hydraulic hoses) and I come back to 2 pages missed!

Only vacuum I have been happy with, AND not busted, was a Riccar. VERY good vacuums.
I've just worried the homemade ones can't take our temps BC... So heated horse bucket and a stock tank heater it is... In the new coop though I want to do the nipple waterer with the heat tape in the chicken pens... No more wet waddles... @tntchix was it you that had that killer looking design? Could some one link that here (again) for me?? Please...

@hennible We'd probably have to use a much higher wattage light bulb. Someone posted the link on the ACE facebook site. I would want to test it first in the elements not in the coop.

Deb: we are in the prairies, close enough?

Yeah BC like a halogen bulb... I like my store-bought ones because they turn off when it's warm enough and only uses much power as is needed at any given time to keep the water liquid... But one of those might be pretty snazzy to keep my FF feeders flowing...

Me and my chickens need a bigger coop, learning about way too many things here that I want to do!

I was sort of planning on taking my run waterer apart, cutting a hole in the bottom, putting a smaller bucket in the larger one, putting the nipples on that one, and filling the void between the two buckets with insulation. That would maybe make the 20W heater work a bit better. Right now it's mainly wasting electricity. Not much of it, but still.
