Sam, I'm going to take a chance and start the maters a bit early, then just keep them inside for pretty long in case we don't get an early spring. But this winter seems to be pretty similar to last year, so I'm hoping I can get stuff out pretty early again.

Just watch that don't get to spindly on your before they get planted out, grow em cool and slow.

Yup, they need a lot of support if you let them grow too quickly. I started fertilizing a bit too early last year. I think I'll skip that step this year.

One year I killed a bunch of my pepper starts with fish emulsion... no idea how it's not supposed to burn the plants

Don't touch newborn baby rabbits. I did when I was a kid and the mother ate them all. Something to do with their instincts getting rid of the human smell, Dad was mad!

Overpopulation will cause that too... Grossest thing I've ever seen second to a cat eating a litter of premature kittens

@Outpost JWB do you butcher them yourself? The rabbits.

I have not yet. I know I will probably be the one who does it. I have told DH that it will be harder to butcher them that the chickens. They are just more cuddly and soft. I do fine butchering chickens. Hopefully I will have the grit to be able to handle it come butcher day

Thanks for telling me that. When I was about 12 years old we had 4 meat rabbits. I was the one responsible for feeding, watering and cleaning their hutches. Dad did all butchering & breeding. One of the does had a litter and they only lasted a couple days. I don't remember touching them, but at that age, I probably did. I was not told any different. Anyways, the mother ate all of her babies & my dad said she must be crazy and butchered her that night.

That's a good thing to know. Although, I seem to remember reading about it being a somewhat hereditary trait too. You'd think it would breed itself out pretty efficiently, though.

The hard part about those fiberglass tub surround things is they dont just fit in the door easily. You can buy ones that disassemble though. Fiberglass tub with three parts to the surround. Put in properly they wont leak.

My shower is made of Gel... the walls on the floor pan are about a quarter inch thick. The guy that rehabbed the bathroom gutted it down to the stucs and the floor joists. Thank goodness the joists are steel. He layed down a floor made of three quarter thick Marine grade plywood. When he set the shower pan he set it ontop of a thick a peanut butter Glop of mortar.
