Gorgeous birds, Felix... Aren't Icelandics considered landrace too? Just trying to remember, lol... I believe their colors are kinda unpredictable too...

Yeah, they are. Out of those birds in the picture, only the one on the right is left. That's Virpi, she's mothering the chicks at the moment. Viiru in the middle was killed by our dachshund when I accidentally locked her out of the run in the dark and let the dogs out, and Veera on the left was taken by a hawk when she went on an adventure to the other end of the house with Viiru. Virpi just turned one year old four days ago. No cake for her though...

heya @RavynFallen good morning .. I am in and out am letting the chicks run around in the henhouse... they just discovered the chicken nipples!..and doing a bit of gardening... look like the garden thinks its begining of spring also my spinach is starting to grow again and my broccoli is forming... brussel sprouts are doing there thing just did a lil pruning of them to feed to the girls...

I sooo cant wait till spring and growing season again!!!

I need to do some research on cockerel pens... I think it's @Beer can who is going to capon his cockerels..I could be wrong... that seems like an interesting process and the behavioral aspects sounded appealing...I dont think it's something for me and I cant see paying or just finding a vet who would do it as viable option... there is suposedly someone off island not to far from me who does it with bresse's

I plan on doing a cockrel pen.... have one setup on my coop plans.

Heya, @Amberjem, just got done with one round of chicken maintenance, lol... Gotta unload my van next, got my hatcher and small brooders, etc... still trying to figure out how we are getting the 2 8ft long fiberglass brooders tho.... may end up doing 2 trips and tying down the back door of my van, lol... Yeah, I admit I am a redneck, lol...
