Jem I with naf free ranging helps, and if was still using free bedding my egg sales would cover all food.... Stupid statement... It does cover food but not bedding...

I'm with deb on the Star Trek... But any of them... Sliders was fun too... The twilight zone... I'm watching that 70s show these days, on DVD.... Don't tell anyone but I could go for some sailor moon, and full metal alchemist... I'm a giant dork...

anyone have any interesting recipes for fresh beets?

Best one Ever.... Everyone says dont peel before cooking I cant make myself do it... But I put the peeled beets in a piece of tinfoil with a drizzle of olive oil and seal it up... each beet gets done this way... Then they all go in the oven to roast. Put em on a pan its easier to put em in and pull em out.

400 degrees for about an hour

Once cooked let em cool then slice them up and throw them into a plastic container and put in some white vinegar....give em a shake to coat every few hours...

They will absorb some of the vinegar within a couple of hours enough to serve as a side dish... They will be sweet and slightly vinegary just enough to complement the earthy flavor they have.

Way behind. Been busy last few days with a egg bound hen [SIZE=13.3333330154419px]and her vent is prolapsed.[/SIZE] [SIZE=13.3333330154419px] [/SIZE]She's in the basement. I've given her baths I've given her greek yougurt with pulverized egg shell and [SIZE=13.3333330154419px]tried Prep H, [/SIZE]but the egg is so close it won't stay in. I first noticed her on Friday morning and brought her right in. She has now quit eating but is still drinking. This morning she woke me up at 6:30 am with a loud squawk. I thought for sure she either laid the egg and it was awful or she didn't make. But when I went down, she was the same. I don't know what else to do. I've done a ton of looking up what to do but the only other thing is giving her a shot of calcium which I don't have. I'm afraid the egg is so big it won't come out and she's not going to make it. She's one of my original girls and is almost 3 years old. She hasn't laid any for months.

How is your hen? Did the lube work?

Anyone do preserves ? canning of any kind , old world , something new , veggies , meats jambs ?? I make a Cantaloupe jamb when they are in season and ripe ........which is hard to find in the stores as they seem to all be picked green ? I call it liquid gold because if done correctly it's as sweet as honey , enough sugar content with the added amount , but o so sweet and great on your morning toast . Would like to see and maybe get some recipes for some other new ideas

I can all kind a of stuff. Soup,spaghetti sauce,tuna, jams. Love it. Look at the website for 'Ball' they have alicia kinds of things.

Oh and you can eat beats raw.... sliced thin or shredded in salads....

I like beets sliced thin, sauteed in butter... and then eat...


but then, I think you can saute anything and everything in butter.

Hope they get your meds right soon. They put my hubby on Prozac once and he slept for 3 days. He only woke up to eat and go to the bathroom. It was like he was in a partial coma. Different people have different side effects and you have to be your own advocate.



Morning all! I am BEAT! Today is only day 3 of my 7 day work stretch. And it hasn't even started yet. News just said local company is laying off over 2,000 people. I am going to be stuck working where I work until I die!!! I know, I should feel fortunate that I even have a job, but this place has changed SO much in the past year. Retail does change and I have rolled with the punches for 17 years. Its just recently gotten very hard to tolerate. I have been looking & applying for jobs for 6 months. The job market is not good around here. Well, gotta get moving. 3:08am here, too darn early for humans.
