I thought everyone was nice in Georgia until we stopped at a gas station off the highway in a small town. We were just going to use the bathroom quick. The wife comes out of the bathroom with all the kids and sees I had grabbed some snacks, she says we have snacks, I says did you see the sign on the door? It said bathroom is only for paying customers. The woman behind the counter was rude and never smiled. They had a small peach stand outside, so I checked it out. The teen running it was quite the salesman. I didn't want anything but ended up buying a gallon glass jug of peach cider and a container of boiled peanuts he was boiling in a beer keg, he tried like heck to sell us some peach 'monkeybread'. Our quick bathroom break cost me $20!

here its Dry creek Wash gully and stream bed... all describing places where water used to flow....

funny story about mom and I .... We were doing the drive through at PopEyes... chicken... They are Louisiana based I believe.

No moms TV watching is legondary. Some of the shows she watches on cable are in other states.... So when we drove up to PopEyes She says, "Oooh oh oh this place has boiled peanuts.... I havent had boiled peanuts since LB and I were married..." The family called dad LB.

"Mom... " I said... "I dont think they have boiled peanuts here..."
"Oh sure I saw a commercial for them."
"I dont Think so"
"Just ask"

Ok our turn came up and we are speaking into the speaker .... So I ordered chicken and mom was pestering me... So I asked...

"do you have boiled peanuts?"
""... What...?""
"Boiled Peanuts..."
another voice came on
""... What?...""
"Do you have boiled peanuts"
"We dont have anything boiled here mam..."
"ok" I turned to mom and said "See..."

then "Oh MY GAWD" I realized they must have been hearing something else through the speaker... When I explained to mom we burst out laughing... Remember this is California.

When we got our order there were a few extra glimpses of employees looking at our car as we drove away.

heya @Peep_Show !! How's it going? any suggestions for edible acid loving plants?
I will reckon you're talking pH; right?

Do you know the pH of your soil? If you have the numbers, here's the plants:

4.5 - 5.5 Radishes and sweet potatoes
5.5 - 6.5 Parsley, peppers, rhubarb, berries: Currants, Elderberries, Gooseberries, Raspberries, Strawberries
5.7 - 7.0 Beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, summer squash, sweet corn, tomatoes

Blueberries are the champ, however, and actually prefer acidity. Fertilize with an acidic fertilizer.

Apple trees will tolerate acidic soil.

I've been swamped with job assignments lately, so only occasionally come up for air and log in to see how everybody's doing (lurk, lurk, lurkety, lurk). It also means finishing my chicken run is on hold, probably after I finish the income taxes which is the next project when I get out from under. DH is on sabbatical from work picking up the slack I'm unable to in the yard, so he's getting hands-on lessons in the joys of pruning. After last year's grape fiasco -- where he came along and tidied up the already-done pruning and removed all the fruit spurs -- he is now learning how to do it right. I will admit it's nice having a little muscle in the yard as he's taken out two trees and found a buried sprinkler we didn't know was there (previous owners were awful landscapers). We are alternating between warm days, freezing nights, tee-shirt weather and snowstorms. Wild month.

I must admit I'm a horrible boss.... He said it was cold out and I told him to work harder to keep warm. (baaad wifey) However, his present boss also fixes him meals and insists every now and then he take the afternoon off for going to the movies or frisky naps. Pay's lousy, though.

Hens started laying the 2nd week of February and we're rounding up to our 100th egg soonly!
