dixie is funny as heck she started with chasing my hand around then she starts pressing her lil marshmellow body against my hand until she climbs up and has a lil snooze in my fingers...I think she is gonna be a handful when she gets older..she will go to the brooder box corner and jump up and down trying to reach me when I sit down next to it

Jem, they're doing well, spoiled little cluckers... I went to check on them when I got home and they were complaining that their treat bowl is empty... Karin is spoiling them, I'll just let them eat out of the feeders. Töyhtis was sitting on top of the feeder when I opened the door, she just traveled with it (it's attached to the service door).

Took a picture!! lol We have a neighbor that lost all of her chickens, so we are giving them to her.

DSO's mom passed away just after Christmas and the funeral was New Years Eve.

I might have to start hatching soon.... and a big who cares of no one buys any.... wait, I care.... even without spouse there is no way I want chicks living in my house for 5 months!

I wonder if hen's buffy color chicks will end up a solid or at least mostly solid buff/brown color?  I wanna guess that anyway.

The parents are all buff/Brown well the moms and I think the dads are saddle coloured... that beautiful brown red color roosters come in... It's early I can't remember the name of the coloring

Ok I have a few thoughts feel free to jump in or not anyone everyone...... So I been watching alot of these Alaskan reality shows not much else on that looks good and... I was watching them install an outhouse blah blah.......... well my question is where the heck is the heatsource for those things????!?!?!!??!?!? @Alaskan
 ... I mean I sure as heck would dread the walk out to use it in freezing alaska but shouldnt there be a heatsource in there???

 anyways someone did .......now if they are doing this moonshining on a reality tv and it's an illegal activity why they have a tv crew driving round with them?  I mean just doesnt connect the dots for me other then a reality show thats just made up drama for ppl to watch?

There's a reality show out there called homegrown about grow ops. And the people who run them must be staged or something right?
What do I grow? anything and everything I can get my hands on... beans corn beats peas zucchini assorted winter squash tomatoes more tomatoes hot peppers sweet peppers onions raspberries strawberries Lillys poppies melons musklin lettuce spinach herbs... Etc potatoes...

About outhouses and winter, using a outhouse in -20C isn't a problem as long as you have a polystyrene seat - don't make the mistake on sitting down on a plastic one, that will make you leap up and hit your head in the ceiling. The outhouse provides protection from wind, so it's pretty nice. At least it's a lot better than just going in the forest. And if it's an actively used outhouse, it will provide some heat by itself.

All the rest stops have plastic toilet seats... talk about chilly... but my butt has never stuck to single one no matter how cold... Because I'm smart enough to hover lol!

Jem, they get canned corn, boiled egg, yoghurt/other near spoiled dairy products, cottage cheese, salad or other similar greens if we have any, whatever veggies might be left over etc. And sometimes noodles or porridge.

Okay, menu for today: Cauliflower steamed in cream and puréed, roast lamb, and a mustard-cream sauce.
