aside from the whole fatty liver disease n such with sun flower seeds, do they have an addictive quality to chickens as well?

I don't know about addictive but mine love them. If you feed them whole, with the hulls on, not shelled, they provide extra heat this time of the year as the chickens digest them. I feed them plain and sprouted.

Hmm good question... I know sunflower seeds have something in them that mimics nicotine...

Speaking of addictive things anybody every chocolate until they threw up? Or is it just me?
