@BriardChickens

how many days has it been for your broody?

Have you given up on her?

I would think after 25 days.... there would be no hope....

LOL! Sounds like you had a good time. It's yucky rainy out this morning which means yucky icy this morning. It's 1:47am and a normal person would be in bed sleeping. I did say normal though

, then off to the shower and off to work. Also hoping the fire will take off. It's smoldering. I threw some cardboard in there since we are out of kindling. And everything has been a wet, frozen world out there for weeks.

@vehve and @Amberjem , I love the curtains on the nest boxes. When we get tops on all the nest boxes, I am going to do that. So cute!
I am going to copy that idea this spring. Well, time to hit the shower.

House blessing is tomorrow..... priest has to walk through every single room of the house, and be able to get close to every single window of the house

We have been cleaning sporadically for 2 weeks now..... and I am still not sure that it will be possible.

so sad.... so embarrassing.... so what did I do for over an hour tonight? Clean? Nope, not really..... I mopped up the flood that the boys had caused.

No one noticed the over flowing sink until there was a flood over three rooms....

And yes, I didn't do it alone.... 2 eldest (very eldest was responsible for the flood) helped clean.

I told the priest that if he brings anyone with him, they are staying in the car in my parking area. Bad enough the priest has to see my house, no one else gets to.

Did I miss something? You have ghosts? Maybe the ghost turned the water on.....

Gosh, I could've used that excuse when I was growing up. Too late now.

Morning, everyone!

Sam, I'm ready for your invasion attempt, I've got a butter knife here.

Regarding botulism, and someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought it required anaerobic conditions to grow? So I don't see how it would develop in the suspended egg that has a hole in it and is exposed to oxygen all the time.

Al, why is the house being blessed? And I hope you got the water dried up in time, so that it doesn't cause any trouble. You might want to keep it a bit warmer in there for a while, maybe even get a heater with a fan in there. A bit extra heat is a lot cheaper than tearing up the floor in a year or two.

Oh, I took some pics this morning. We're almost at 4 weeks now. Starting to be pretty feathered. I'm thinking two more weeks until we take the divider down, I hope they will be big enough to defend themselves from the roo. He doesn't seem aggressive towards them through the divider though. My biggest concern is that the chicks won't know how to come back into the coop if they venture out into the run. When can a chick be exposed to -15C?

JWB, by the way, the curtains were super easy to make. I took a piece of cloth that will fit the space, wrapped it around a thin piece of trim, and stapled the fabric to that. Then I just attached the piece of trim with two screws, and after cutting in the appropriate places, we had curtains.
