thank youThats awesome amberjem! And I hope dinner was good. Nothing better than steak and seafood. When I read vehve's post I thought you were celebrating your 50th. I thought wow they don't look that old Lol!!
Sorry jem and big 50, Lol, have fun!
@vehve I love love love these pictures they look so content and very happy chickens! are the chicks friendly or do they hide from you?Oh, I took some pics this morning. We're almost at 4 weeks now. Starting to be pretty feathered. I'm thinking two more weeks until we take the divider down, I hope they will be big enough to defend themselves from the roo. He doesn't seem aggressive towards them through the divider though. My biggest concern is that the chicks won't know how to come back into the coop if they venture out into the run. When can a chick be exposed to -15C?

haha ya.. I cant answer your chick question about the cold however.. I would think they sure wont be out long if they arent comfyJem, we haven't really handled them all that much. I sort of have a feeling that keeping them a bit skittish will mean that they're more aware of threats when they're free ranging later. I don't have any experience to base that on though. Another reason is that it's freaking cold out there![]()
I sooo get that! I mean I been planning and reasearch for years and I am so excited to have them and everything but those stinkers are soo endlessly amusing.......I smoke and I dont smoke in the house so I go outside to smoke and of course this means I can make a lil trip to watch the chickens...even in the cold I enjoy watching them..and their personalities.. they really each have a different personality...it's interesting how interactivee they are also without even touching you or you them they can still be very interactive..........things I had come to expect from chickens arent necessarily part of these chickens it's very individual... thanks so much for sharing @NotAFarmThe most surprising thing for me was how "all absorbing" chickens can be. I spend time just sitting and watching them when the weather allows![]()
and spend time on the computer talking about them and learning ways to care for them when the weather is crappy. They are just so much more entertaining than I ever imagined!
