Tnt, it's probably the dander. The carpet removal sounds like a good idea. Just to be safe, is there any possibility you might have mold issues in the house?

Finally, I get it! Duh.IW, Mulit-quote allows you to put more than one quote in a post....say for instance that I am trying to catch-up on five pages of posts. I can hit the multi on Hen's post on one page, keep reading and hit multi on deb's post on page two and hit multi on your post on page five. When I'm done reading, I hit the reply button on the last post and the box that shows-up has all the quotes that you hit so you can respond directly beneath or above them.
Nothing better than silly faces.Got the laptop back today woohoo! Now I can post the silly faces again!![]()
Found the best way to cook chicken necks, fifteen minutes in the pressure cooker after the weight started hopping. They didn't fall apart but the meat could be sucked right off the bone.
I really mean to wear my mask diligently when I work, I just forget and pay the price. With winter temps I am bundled up like a 5yr old so I'm covered right now. LOL My asthma cycles every few decades, it's back with a vengeance right now. As a teen, I could be nowhere near any kind of hay or straw now, no big deal it's more dander based reactions. Oh and pine dust, went camping once with a boyfriend and they thought he was trying to kill me cuz I was suffocating with no meds of any kind i the woods.Scary, now it doesn't really bother me.One thing you might do to mitigate asthma attacks is wear a cheepo facemask or bandana... When you are going to do things involving dust dander or mold. I am particularly susceptible to mold.... I cracked open a bale of Alfalfa once that was moldy on the inside... I saw the spored poof up in the air and wasnt able to hold my breath in time... I coughed all the way home and had a mild asthma/bronchitis episode right after that....
its far better to be active out there to keep your immune response on an even keel but no need to exacerbate it like I did.
My asthma also went almost away when I switched from Alfalfa for the horse to Bermuda.... So when I fed the goats I would trundle a whole bale of hay in their pen and park the wagon... They disassembled it on their own.... LOL.

I never get any rest after an attack, it's like I am on alert for the next one. It is exhausting. I didn't miss that.I had brutal asthma growing up, pollen, dander, dust, smoke etc.
I started treeplanting at 23 and surrounded my self with pollen during the harshest time of the season and in 7 seasons I only ever had a mild reaction. We also have 8 cats, 2 dogs and a ferret all indoor/outdoor and I have smoked since about 19 yrs. old, nothing really bother me too much so maybe it is best to surround yourself and learn to guard against it. There was an upside to asthma attacks, after they passed I usually had the best sleep of my life haha
Regardless we are sitting across the table from eachother talking to eachother on the internet, losers! Least I am drinking my beer and not just posing with it

Yup, turn the poop into bedding, mixed with sawdust it dries right up and decomposes. The coop will never smell if done right. Supposed to stir it up and add more pine shavings, I use hard wood sawdust, the chickens do a good job of stirring it up. It is supposed to add extra heat in the winter also, like a compost pile. I did have my other chickens pooping on the nest boxes so when I got these new ones I nailed a piece of plywood on a 45 degree angle on the top of their boxes. I read some people mix DE in the bedding, it is recommended not to use DE because deep litter harbors beneficial microbes and nematodes and DE will kill the good microorganisms . The microbes and nematodes are what keeps the litter 'working' and they actually prevent and kill lice and mites. I read somewhere also that chicks live and thrive better if they are raised in a deep litter method coop.Tell me more about deep litter beer can? Do you just turn the poop into the bedding? How often do you need to do that? And if you have shelves or perches that get pooped on do you add it the floor or remove it?...
