Hi @zeldacoon , Don't think I have seen you on here before. How's it going?

I checked out all the heated waterers at Rural King and all the feed stores and decided for now, I will just take fresh water out 2-3 times a day and swap them out. Even the rabbit water containers.

I wonder if you could wrap the outside of the bucket in heat tape? I don't know if there would be enough heat in the water to keep the nipple from freezing though..... I think I may try.

Look a chickenwhispers design in that DIY contest thread... Think it sound like what ur talking about. It's on the last page.

I was sort of planning on taking my run waterer apart, cutting a hole in the bottom, putting a smaller bucket in the larger one, putting the nipples on that one, and filling the void between the two buckets with insulation. That would maybe make the 20W heater work a bit better. Right now it's mainly wasting electricity. Not much of it, but still.
I just received my horizontal nipples yesterday and was thinking of something like an insulated "cover" to go over the bucket with the nipples. The cover would be long enough to cover the whole bucket with spaces cut-out to allow access to the nipples. A bird bath heater (I need to see what the wattage is on it) in the bottom of the bucket, add water, slide the insulated cover over the bucket and done. We'll see if that is enough heat to keep the nipples from freezing up..........can't do anything with it until after the weekend though......which is okay since daytime temps are suppose to be around the freezing mark starting Thursday and going through the first part of next week.
