Dixie Chicks

my chicks are looking a mess all part fuzz part feathers coming in.. poor eggna poe looks like she has been put thru the grinder... nugget is still barely getting feathers in the wing feathers just started getting some length he's full orpington and the half orpington is also as slow but just a wee bit faster... dixie is getting huge she is the biggest chick at this point..wittle squishy marshmellow chickies..they so adorable

and they are soo utterly sweet they all gang up on my hand to be the first one to get picked up now..... I have to tell you I cant say how relieved I am that not all chickens are as darn right mean and nasty as my grandma's chickens they are soo endlessly fun to watch and everything

I did not know bama was in chicken jail.....I also just realized CFH is all gone. Off my thread list and all the way deleted. If it happened a week or so ago, sorry. I am not up on the happenings apparently.

@hennible that chick is adorable! has a super cute face... not all chickens look super cute to me some look vulturery

ok y'all I need a wee bit of help maybe someone has a good graphic comparison but I just cant really see the difference in the barred rock coloring from male to female it all looks like a buncha spotted barring to me mostly I just see the lighter or darker quality between the roos and hens....but I keep reading about the different barring aspect of it but I dont see it what am I looking at it wrong or?

Quote: Do you know someone you could borrow one from until he learns his lesson? After he gets hit once or twice on it, you could turn in off and see if he senses that the current is off.....my cats can do this. They walk along the top of the wooden fence that has a wire on it when there is no power on but stay away from it when the current is flowing. It must make a inaudible noise or have a vibration or something that they can sense. A dog may be able to sense it as well. My cats will not go near the electro-net unless I am inside doing something, they know if I am in there, the power is off.

Are you talking feathering or down color difference?

Here is a picture someone posted here on BYC........not my chickens..........shows the difference in a quality male and female. Notice the closer/narrower barring on the male. If the breeder you got yours from is not breeding for crisp barring, the difference may not be as noticeable on yours. It should not look spotted.

I don't see the photo in my post I am submitting, but I see it now in edit mode........hmmmm?

Trying again...it is the first photo on this page
