@perchie.girl It should be just about 1/4 inch between chain and bar when pulled up. Too much and the chain will fall off. If it's too tight it will get to hot.

The whole chain is just about a quarter inch deep... Its a pretty small chain. No part of that chain comes out of the groove right now... but there is a little play when I push the chain up from its low point on the underside.

Posted my cheesecake recipe on Virginia Chickens, coffee and chocolate thread. Hope all enjoy it.
Thanks! I went and found it. Copied and saved it. I want to try this for the next special cheesecake I make!

You should beable to pull the chain up just a little and freely turn the chain, if it is too tight it will wear on the tip, sprocket and bar and stretch the chain out prematurely. Experience is the only way to know how tight. I've had tight chains fall off just from having sticks hit it just right when cutting tree tops and brush. I don't have any experience with electric chainsaws but I think they are basically the same as far as the bar and chain go. The chain will get hot and stretch out if the bar oiler isn't working properly. I always clean my bar and the oiler hole in the bar every few sharpenings, I hand sharpen them myself.

I have that..... first part.... Thanks for describing the operation.... And Yep thats how it hopped off the bar cutting small branches about an inch in diameter.

this chain is pretty small maybe a quarter inch deep when its off the bar. The spacing between the cutting blades is pretty far like once every four links.

It came with about four ounces of oil which filled up the chamber about half way originally its down only a little according to the marks on the level.... But I will want to fill it up again before we use it again... it will be me using it this time. Thank goodness there are only two branches left. I have to stand to cut those.

I am going to have to cut the branches on the ground though probably a good truck load. They just need to be short enough to not hang off the back of the truck. I have no tail gate and have to strap every thing down pretty creatively.

I think I will make up a workstation right next to the truck so I can cut and toss...
