what kinda ducks do you have @Beer can ?

No ducks for the past couple yrs. We had pekins, mallards and khaki cambell, then crosses. Predators ate them up , gave away a couple dozen before they were all gone. When I get them again I'm going to stick strictly mallards, hopefully they can evade predators better. Snapping turtles were getting the little ones, maybe giant bass ate some also.

Black Indies are smaller than Cayugas. Just read cayuga can lay grey and sometimes black eggs, weird!
they do start out black but the bloom is what makes it that color so it fades to grey by the end of the season. It's interesting to see though!

Cool, snapping turtles! You have such different animals!

I only missed a stupid big moose by 3 feet going home from work Wednesday night. Literally 3 feet away from my husbands little car that I was driving that day. Stupid moose slipped in the middle of the road too.. did you know moose don't even run they just hasten their walk.

Khaki Cambells, lay more than chickens. I had a Campbell Mallard cross that would hatch out twenty or so at a time. Good broody and mother. I have pics somewhere of her and 20+ fuzzballs on our pond with their pekin cross dad.
