Ok, 2 hatched!

The light one has feathered legs and hatched super fast, but had a longer recovery. The dark one took a long time to hatch and is kinda mean. I think it's a boy

Another egg just started to pip, 24 are in lockdown as of yesterday morning. Fingers crossed that the white bresse eggs that were shipped hatch.

Isn't it nice when they start filling out? That stretched emaciated pigeon look isn't very attractive and they look so prominently bony on the bow hull. My red-yeah-a-hybrid CCL that looked like I cooped a red roadrunner is finally getting a plump breast and fluffy butt.... Still a crazy redhead, though. Lucy.....

they do start out black but the bloom is what makes it that color so it fades to grey by the end of the season. It's interesting to see though!

Must be kinda like Langshans eggs, they say they are purple with the 'bloom'. Hopefully I find out someday, ordered black and blue Langshans from Sand Hill, but I don't know when I'll get them, they have a few different hatch dates and do not hatch out extras. I heard you need to order early or you miss out with them, I see a few of their breeds are already sold out for 2015. They have a website but only take orders through the mail, with check or money order only, old school. Website is only to check availability.

What color were your Bresse eggs, btw? I do want some Bresse one of these days...don't know whether white or black, though.
