Dixie Chicks

@vehve I dont think you have much of a choice except to pinch 1 off...You could possibly dunk the soil in water to seperate the plants. The root hairs are probably entwined by now though.
I start my seeds in a wet paper towel. Inside a ziplock bag. Inside a black trash bag. On top of my clothes dryer.

Thanx, @tntchix ...

This is Charlie, Jim's Silver Duckwing OEGB, taking a ride on the Bear... she's a BIG cat, but this is how big they all are...

That is one seriously mellow cat! Our boys are mellow until you want to pick them up or cuddle with them, then they're gone! Buggers. Dogs on the other hand, love the attention.

Spent some time up at the new place this weekend. DH push mowed over an acre of it in 2 days. I picked up yet more trash. Itty bitty pieces of brittle plastic and styrofoam. And guess what? We have discovered a hot tub - under the blackberry brambles! Who the **** does that!? Ditches something like that to rot and let brambles grow over them. UGH! That is where the old yellow brittle foam is coming from - insulation from the hot tub. It is so frustrating because it is like 2 steps forward, one back. I want to build a coop and yet there is so much to do. I think we will place the coop on the current burn pile area - since it's flat, near water and power, etc..But that means cleaning out the burn pit of stuff that didn't burn - like nails! I'm going to get as much out as I can and then I may have to put gravel down, then sand maybe? We plan on raising the coop off the ground, so they can go under it for shade and dust bathing. It just seems like nothing is straightforward and easy with this property. I would just love to be making better progress. I guess it just feels like a long time since we've been mostly in the planning and waiting stages. Hopefully the building (of the house) can get underway in a month. And the coop in the meantime. Having the chicks will be a welcome distraction to the remodeling :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend

But think of the pride when you've recrafted everything and can say "We did this!"

You'll appreciate your place more investing a little sweat equity into it.....but, yeah, right now going through it it's a "What did we get into?" PITA.

Definitely. We love it there. I am just feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, that's all. Once we are living there and this big push (next 6-7 months) is over, it will be easier. Just so much has to happen in a short period right now. Some of that is self-imposed of course - like wanting chickens and a garden. That could wait - but I will be happier having them and we can start slow with the garden. The coop can be a work in progress too. Most of the work in the house will be done by our contractor. This property is definitely for someone with a vision of what it can be - all of it has been neglected. I really look forward to the day when we can say "we did this!" :)

That's close to what I do with squash ( the bag thing ) I never, not sure why, thought of doing it with peppers or tomatoes... Or anything else. I'm going to try it. Huh

A cool trick is to zip the ziplock bag almost closed but leave about an inch open. Blow air in like a balloon. Then suck the air out about 10 - 20 times ( like hyperventilating people do in a paper bag). Something about carbon dioxide giving everything a boost.
