@bamadude what do you think of your Marans and Cream Legbars as breeds? These are both high on my list. I am getting one 3 mo old CL pullet and I may order some FBCM chicks from the same breeder. I'm also getting 2 Swedish Flower Hens (5 mo old pullets) from them. I really want some Marans, the only ones I can find around here are the black copper, but I would love blue! I'm very curious to see what your crosses look like all grown up...Have you done these crosses already and have pics to show, pretty please?
My line of thinking (which may be wrong) is that a solid color over a barred would be auto sexing. Wouldnt the legbar be barred?
you have it set up in front of the light blowing onto the water heater thermastat?? did you modify the water heater thermostats so it is more sensitive? maybe yuou could take a vidoe to show how yours is set up?
very glad I was able to help outFinally! I've got the incubator at a stable temp ranging from 97-101.5. Had to do a lot of little changes and waiting but all your help was great. Thank you!
Oh and if you have any pictures of thchicks that just hatched that you got from bamadude I wouldn't mind seeingI'm excited to see what my Easter Eggers will turn out looking like.![]()
Heya peeps!![]()
ok so whart you got hatching??????I haven't had Legbars, but I have had two different lines of Black Copper Marans, and have also had hatchery Cuckoo Marans.
The Cuckoo Marans were very nice, one girl was the best Broody that I have ever had. She was horrid in regards to egg color, but she layed decently, and was nice.
The Black Copper Marans are very sweet chickens. Laid back, easy going big fat ladies. However, the better their egg color the WORSE they lay.![]()
yep, supposedly if you cross a barred over something else, you get auto-sexing chicks. I forget now which colors you need... or whatever, whatever.... but yep, it works somehow.
