I am coming down with a cold...

At least one of my kids is going to need braces... Trying to figure out if I will have to sell a kid to afford the braces, ***I*** need braces

Thinking it might be better to wait until my teeth fall out....

Blah

Had to drive 2 hours each way to see the closest orthodontist Yeah...... Not

Kids had half day took dd shopping after dr appt. Good news, it's is just asthma Not COPD and yes doc convinced me to use a controller inhaler not just an emergency one, and what do you know? I can breathe again! We'll see how it changes over the next few days.

Lil bantam chicks are fluttering like crazy in their brooder. Took to the nipple waterer immediately so no messy bedding.

Someone else took over broody duty, one of the SLW took over for the GLW. No one sat overnight though they were chilled this a.m.
No incubator yet, so...has anyone brooded eggs with a different animal? LOL My barn cat wants to hatch these eggs in the worst way. Go figure, he wants to cuddle with "his babies" in the house too. He can hear them through the window.

I picked up the old end table to make the broody box project. I can't wait to get started.

Ok, that was my day. Hope everyone's was good as well.

Here's most of the flock. Missing are two Icelandics and the Araucana hen.
All Icelandics pictured except the two orange hens, they're German Line New Hampshires.

2 year old Icelandic hen from a fellow BYCer's stock. Her eggs are in the incubator.

One of my original Icelandic hens, she will be 5 in May.

...and one of the barn kitties, Sarabi:
ohhhhhh love love the pictures wow five year old is she still laying? :) how many do yo u have in the incubator?

I was wondering what thread I read that on. A few people had big losses this winter. One person here in NY lost like 20 chickens to a pair of her neighbors dogs. The woman I'm getting cemani crosses from lost a whole bunch of chickens and ducks and all her roosters but one, to a weasel, that one killed it. It wasn't her best rooster but she nursed him back to health, might not have the use of one of his feet. She found him frozen to the ground outside all tore up. Luckily her cemanis and crosses were in her workshop.

Where did you get your Giants?
that woulda hurt if it had been her cemanis when you picking your chicks up?
So in looking for birds to replace what was killed when the tree fell on the coop..... I now have 8 black jersey Giant pullets. They are about a week old.
you going to share pictures? glad to hear your recovering from the hard winter seems they slammed you good this year
