tomatoe jam?? I wonder what that tastes like...........I hope to get some canned heck I hope to actually get good crop I AM totally hoping these super duper awesome cold weather varieties will kick bum this year I would love and I do mean LOVE to have an over abundance of tomatoes..........
The cool thing about really green tomatoes is you can flavour your canning how ever you like... Because they don't have a strong flavor really just a bit of acidity... Saw a recipe that used strawberry Jell-O with green tomatoes to make mock strawberry jam, also you can make green tomatoe pie with em, suppose to taste like apple pie... I also make green salsa and relish...

Top relish bottom salsa...
If your willing jem could we trade seed in the fall? I need more cold hardy tomatoes...
Even though there is no difference between them. That kinda kills me. Pet food (and most things that aren't medication) has to be up to human standards to be sold. I guess someone is expecting a law suit.Sweet score!! Gotta love the price differences in 'food grade' and 'critter grade', lol...
We've had this problem for years now where we can't get ducks to survive past a few months old. We were only able to get medicated chick starter (no water fowl starter around here for some reason) and even after our local feed store stopped selling it we still couldn't get ducklings (always female, we have picking them out down to a science) to live. Dad started feeding them 16% layer crumbles and we haven't had a single problem since. It has most of the same stuff as regular chick starter, but with some higher vitamin counts.Quote:I use the nutritional yeast for:is nutritional yeast for fermenting or something? whatcha use calf manna for? what big city?
1. when I had horses, there is a poisonous weed up here, messes with the vitamin absorption of horses.. if they eat too much of the weed they start with a horrid bad full body cough, you give them the nutritional yeast and it counters the weed
2. there is never duckling feed up here, so I have to feed my ducklings un-medicated chick feed, which doesn't have enough B vitamins for ducklings, so I have to add the nutritional yeast for the ducklings
3. it has lots of vitamins and so is a great addition to breeders to make the chicks healthier/hatch better/ more likely to grow to full term and hatch (if you look at the "why my chick didn't hatch, why did the fertile egg die at day 7 or day 18 etc." charts, lots of the reasons are a lack of vitamins)
4. nutritional yeast I have to do NO preparation, no measuring, and no anything. I remember I want to feed some, a scoop some out and toss it on their feed. Yeah! Idiot proof and super easy = right for me.
Some people use Calf manna to supplement breeders...
The big city of Soldotna, population just over 4K... closest orthodontist... 2 hour drive from my house, one way![]()
Ikr?I love the idea and info sharing here... on average people in TN are friendly and considerate, but ask anything about animal raising or gardening tips and they act like everything is a trade secret! Look at you like you were asking what the combo was to their safe! lol
How else will we learn, I mean come on, look at what I have already learned from you? Sheesh. Share ALL THE KNOWLEDGE!!!One great thing we can do to make our world better is share what we know... Knowledge hoarding really ticks me off...
Jem, never worry about asking me something politely, just ask.
OMG cuteness overload!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! quick remind me why I dont want ducks! lol![]()
you must have ducks cute lil ducksZ! YIPPPPPY on the GOOD news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so glad someone asked about the goloves I was trying to figure how to ask politely![]()
What a fantastic idea, Felix. If she will let me near her with superglue.Super cute ducks.
Tnt, if the cuts keep getting infected and won't heal, try sealing them with superglue. I used to work as a security guard, and kept touching a lot of dirty surfaces, so I used to seal any cuts and they healed in a few days instead of a few weeks that it took when they kept getting infected.
Loads of other posts to reply to too, but I had to read so many pages I've already forgotten.
Then to my input. Hilma moved in today.
She really isn't afraid of the dogs, she keeps coming to check them out.
Sorry about the bad images, it was getting a bit dark.
@vehve that is INSANLY awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean it that is one fine build you threw together in a few days soo impressed come build me some stuff hahahhaSuper cute ducks.
