Dixie Chicks

Saw a brahma and several gold laced english orpington boys in Bowling Green last weekend... heads came up to my waist, no joke! They were monster huge... and so calm and laid back... shoulda smuggled one in Jim's lap on way home, lol...
how tall are you? lol :) yeah you must smuggle tghe brahma's I cant wait till the two buff brahma's feather out... I am suspecting I have a hen and cockerel..........one has wing feathers twice as big as the other.....and lil less tail developement.... I think might have several hens that hatched out of the eggs I hatched recently and @bamadude 's eggs......the blue brahma has a nice thickness of body....feathering is very light though on the feet...boy those feet feathers seem weird coming in with the pin feathers it's funny

Did you just call me short?!?!?

Well, ya.... I am... lol... :D
But, still, they had to be closer to 3 foot tall than 2 foot... and as wide as a tank, too!

Call duckies in lockdown...

I'm a wreck, lol...

Our feed store had araucana on a order form said blue egg, rumples and ear tufts $2.75 ea for pullets. I asked them what hatchery they get them from, Ridgway in OH. I put a thread asking on BYC, they are EE and the hatchery doesn't say they are pure araucanas. It is the feed store order form that's wrong.

Yeah, when I asked the feed store who supplies the chicks they told me Mt Healthy Hatchery. That also is in Ohio. Us Buckeyes must be big time chicken people

! Right @minihorse927 ? That list that @Amberjem gave us had a ton of hatcheries in Ohio. Some I have never heard of. Thanks for the list Amberjem.

Suppose to go to lunch with friend today. Haven't heard back from her as to where we are meeting, but I am thinking pizza and salad. It is pouring down rain today and when I went out to feed and water, they all act like they are dying of thirst. They free ranged all day yesterday (and drank out of puddles all day, it's swamp land here) plus I fed and watered them at 8:30pm when I got home from zumba last night. We got one egg yesterday. There are over 40 layers out there. I am scratching my head as to what the problem is. The nest boxes have fresh straw, they are getting fed twice a day. Most of the layers I have in breeding pens have feed 24 /7. They all have water 24/7 except for this morning, it was all dumped or drank. Hubby fixed the light in the coop last week when I was away at training class. They were laying 20+eggs a day all thru December and then boom! They just stopped.

I have searched the property for maybe a stray nest, but there was none and I don't hear them singing the egg song. UGH!

the blue Marans boy I have is by far the best bird I have ever owned. His width, top line, tail angle, foot feathering, breasts, head width...everything about him is awesome.

My brahma boys could eat out of the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. My neighbor has jersey and white giants. My brahmas were bigger and looked better imo

I am looking for a Blue or black marans. They are hard to come by. My light brahma chicks have grown faster than the rest of the breeds I got. I may be getting more. Idk yet. The counts this morning is that we are up to 80 chickens, 8 rabbits, & 2 dogs. Plus I have 10 SS chicks on order, due here on April 2nd.
