Dixie Chicks

Awesome... I started mine out when he was fourteen... Driving the truck to the road... He wasnt too keen about it ... a stick is not his forte...

But he passed his test when he was sixteen.... Not allowed to have a passenger unless they were an adult driver.

We didnt have those restrictions when I started driving.... I think its a very good idea.

He has been driving since he was 2. LOL From power wheels to farm equipment to heavy construction vehicles, the only thing he hasn't driven is a big rig.

I had to hold getting it over his head to get through school, since it isn't his thing. Yes, the new restrictions are a great idea. If I had had them, I would probably not have been such a lead foot. My dad called me hot rod Ethel.

I think the dark one is a blue something, but that big fluffy one next to it looks lavender to me.
cutest chickies ever!

I really like the blue/ splash... whatever they are light fluffy ones!

It will be interesting to see what color they turn out to be. The hen in the mix is black, and the roo is a Speckled Sussex. These are the first chicks we've hatched from our own eggs. The hatch rate with broodies seems to be amazing. In this batch, we set 6 eggs. One was broken around day 5 (someone had pecked it), but it had been developing. One didn't hatch, but that one had been carried outside and been in the cold for a day, so it died from the cold, the rest hatched. In the previous batch, six eggs again, one was pecked so that it was broken around day 5 or 6 too.

Karin palpated Hilma this morning, and came to the conclusion that she's sans bunnies, so she was going to take her to a buck for the day, but when we we're about to put Hilma in the travel box, we palpated her again and this time Karin thought she could feel something, so we decided to wait another ten days to see if something plops out before trying again. The owner of the buck who's doe hadn't given birth has also tried again with the same combination, and this time her doe's behavior has started changing completely, so she thinks that she actually is preggers this time, and that the buck is in fact not shooting blanks. Fingers crossed.

Hilma had opened her tunnel again this morning, and here she is, just finishing up with covering the entrance again.

@Razadia I've probably asked a million times, but what were your chicks again? I especially like those brown/chipmunk ones. Super cute.

Then I shall hype about this self watering chili tray. It's now been 12 days since I filled it with water. They have used about half of it. And I'm guessing quite a lot of it just evaporates into the house, since the humidity inside is pretty low. So they will go for about a week and a half still with the same water, for a total of three weeks. Not too bad. And they're growing nicely. It's now been about 6 weeks since I planted them, and the sprouts came up 4-5 weeks ago, depending on the variety a bit.

The growth will probably increase once I get the proper grow light on top of them, the manufacturer should have mailed it already. Then I can put that bulb back in the mini greenhouse for the tomatoes. They don't need light yet, since they were planted yesterday. They're in 28C (82F) soil now. I think I'm going to try to get them up on a similar rig as quickly as possible though, this keeps the moisture a lot stabler than the mini greenhouse does. I still haven't found a container that would fit nicely in there, otherwise I would rig it up the same way. I would need a 8"x16" tray for that. Hopefully something that's about 2" deep.
