I think it is funny all you that don't want white chickens because of predators. Do you think predators are dumb, or have poor eyesight? I never understood the thought, dark colored birds get ate all the time. I have also heard people that have mixed flocks free ranging, their darker birds will get nailed and not the whites, they think it is because they look more like the predators natural prey. I heard from a breeder of golden pheasants that he has never lost one and free ranges them alongside his partridge colored chickens that he does lose.

So now that I posted pics, they get ignored...

you arent being ignored!! but they arent YOUR pictures,,,,,,,,, I was also processing the information along with it.. I hadnt even heard about them being autosexing before... they are more comman in this area......least seen more listing in my area about them that and barred rock......

We also have tons of rain and mud as a result, so white birds are way too hard to keep pretty, lol...

unfortunately, I did a bit of an "idiot", quail are supposed to hatch Friday, Leghorns Saturday, and a few Marans and my FIRST chicks from by $#%&@@ bantam Ameraucanas on Monday

ladycat has great eggs, and her chicks pop right out of the eggs, CLEARLY she is feeding them well (better than I feed mine

(and before you all say that I should improve my feed... the hatchery Dom rooster is getting the job done! But yes, I have also tried to focus a bit more on the feed of my two prissy boys, the Marans and Ameraucana)

I have several Bev Davis x Wade Jean BCM's gett8ng close to lay... and still have a trio of Welsummers (with autosexing)...

Ladycat's are at least partly from Bev Davis, I have heard those have the darkest eggs.

SO does anyone vaccinate? and how do you go about the process? What is your general opinion about vaccination? why? or why not?

nope... more money, more work.... I am in a frozen wasteland, no diseases here anyway. (know on wood, etc, etc,)

it's not the only reason for me.. I have a few others a big one I dont generally like the look of all white chickens.. I really like the visual diversities in the feathering patterns n colors ect.. I have seen some absolutely gorgious white chickens with varried white layerings of white coloring that was breathtaking but.. I also live in a very rainy wet area white wet mud just doesnt mix to well

Almost full. Waiting on a dozen barred ohiki eggs to show up tomorrow and then itll be full again.

Tray full of chicks from the last few days.

chocolate and black orpingtons and 2 paint silkies. 2 more paint silkie eggs in there and also 1 orpington egg and 1 swedish flower egg.

Lastly, ohiki and porcelain d'uccle. All of these are from my own breeders except for the silkies and the ducklings
