I keep trying to get decent pics of the chicks, but they're pretty skittish.




Here you can slightly see the brown developing on the wings of the chick on the left.

I think usually they should venture out of the nest around this time, but we'll see. I'm not sure if they've been out already, I have missed her feeding routine a couple of days now.

I have found 1 thing that doesn't hatch in a sportsman...my dang call ducks. So far I'm 1 for 6, and I had to help that 1.

Mini, I hope the rest of them hatch. Which ducks were the ones notorious for bad hatching?

Plant update:

So far the tomatoes under the grow lights are doing a lot better. Some of these already have pretty thick stems. The tallest ones are about 3 inches now.


The tomatoes on the windowsill aren't as developed, but it's a sunny week so they should do fine. The chilis are doing great, they've started branching out. I picked the beginnings of flower buds.


I should have marked the seeds I planted in the tin cans. All but one have sprouted, but it will take me weeks before I can identify what it is that isn't growing.

I agree, if you go poking around mamma might have some natural instincts kick in and eat them.
