Tell her that she did well! I approve!

Talking of Marans... I hatched out my first Marans chick with webbed together toes. I cut them apart, and no, I will not use it for breeding.

Pictures:

The foot that is also webbed, but not so bad, so I did not cut.

The bad foot that I cut

The foot with a "band-aid" so it can stay with my chick flock and not be eaten to death.

Actually... the chicks are a HOOT!

The Leghorns all have this upright posture are thin and super zippy.

The Marans looks like a super fat fluffy pancake or teddy bear just waddling about. His face is twice as wide as the Leghorn faces.

Then I just added one little lone Ameraucana bantam... a little fluff thing in the middle.

lol, she is extra proud today... Nice job on the snipping... wonder why that happened? Maybe the temp drop? Cute little chubsters... I've noticed that the Marans an Am's seem to start out wider than the others... So, does that mean your bantam Am is laying now???

@minihorse927 , you want/need any sebright rooster? A byc member I know messaged me and she has 2 for free. I don't want any more....especially roosters and I don't have bantams. Let me know if you do.

Candled the 42 eggs in the bator. We have one week to go for most of them (broke an egg and put a late one in there. I think I was drinking that night?--but the darn egg has a chick in there).....I tossed out 8. They are definitely not developed or blood ring eggs. Not bad considering all eggs were washed, but we won't know until next week. I also would never do this, but thought what the heck this time, I set a HUGE egg. It's a double yoker. The chick is developing but you can see the other yoke is not developing. Again, we will see next week if it hatches I'll be super surprised.

Now holding back clean eggs for next incubation period. Question.....I have my OE hen in with CCL rooster. Will the chick be an Easter Egger???? At this point I have no marans or welsummers to put with her. A few months from now my Cuckoo marans will be able to breed with the OEs and EEs

it turns out that webbed toes is an issue with some Marans and their stupid feathered feet. So, not incubation, clearly genetic.

ANOTHER reason why I should be ruler and dictator supreme over the universe, since I would have voted for the British Marans standard (no feathers on legs or feet) instead of the stupid French standard with the feathers on the legs and feet.

And YES! My one and only Bantam Blue Wheaten Ameraucana is finally laying like an actual chicken!!!! Unfortunately, her rooster (they are separated, just the two of them), is just as lovely as all other inbred fancy breed chickens... and is NOT giving me 100% fertility! The first 10 eggs I have incubated I had about 50% fertility.

I would start to think that it is my fault... and a feed thing or something... but I have only gotten a very few infertile eggs from my Dominique and Leghorn roosters.

Interesting about fact about those marans. My cuckoo marans don't have feathered feet. So far I am LOVING them. 2 are definitely roosters and the other 4 (I hope) will be pullets that lay super super super dark eggs. YEAH!!!
