Dixie Chicks

Look what arrived!!! 2 broken eggs, but she sent 3 extras!

I wonder if the broken egg on the left could be fixed with some clear nail polish and still hatch? It didn't leak the one on the right

Did I mention those eggs are huge!!

If you're worried about it, then I'd go with bought water... especially if it has arsenic in it... miniscule amounts may not seem bad, but wouldn't want it enclosed with eggs in a bator...

the house isn't that warm today and it's trying to snow outside...
yeah, I think I'd go with bottled.
oops, meant to quote @BriardChickens
Thanks, I am going to switch the water before putting the eggs in tonight.

Arsenic! I hope you are not drinking it! We had our water tested for heavy metals and bacteria. I think it cost $40.I was concerned when we moved into this 100+ yr old house cause the well pump is in the cellar with a plastic pipe going to it, and a copper pipe coming out of the wall AND a lead pipe! Water was good. Turns out the lead pipe is just stil stuck in the stone foundation.
Nope, we had our well tested for bacteria, heavy metals and on the realtors suggestion arsenic. We buy our water for cooking and drinking. We can get a 5G jug for just $2 in the next town but if you buy a 10 jug punch card it's more like $1.10

Well 6 ducklings should be sold. They just wanted egg layers so I sexed out the overmarked girls.
Yay for sales, I was surprised how big these eggs are. Now I knew they'd be bigger. I weighted the biggest and smallest looking eggs. 82g and 71g! My biggest chicken eggs are 63g at the moment.

I have seen people use tape over cracks.... as long as its not oozing liquid.... keep an eye on it though. Wax is supposed to be the best way to seal cracks though I havent a clue how to apply it.

I would NOT use fingernail polish because it has chemicals designed to penetrate and outgass. Those would go right through an eggshell.

:woot. I've used nail polish, clear and colored on cracked eggs of they're not oozing. Keep a very close eye on it! Tape would make it easier to see the ooze I would say. ETA:yes my nail polish eggs hatched, and they were calls of all things

So glad I can bounce stuff off you all! Wax as in from a simple white tea light? (bought at ikea)

Yes, wax from a tea light is fine. Preferably unscented and uncolored. You have to melt it and wait for it to become cool enough to be pliable, yet sticky.

Blah, Hilma hasn't been in the nest all day, the straw I placed on top is undisturbed. I hope she still goes in there tonight, if not, it's starting to look like we've lost the litter. But we'll know more tomorrow.

Now, bedtime.
