Only cute cuz you don't see what's next to the waterer... or left in it... or smell it... the dog and cats decided drinking out of the toilet was cleaner... I'd have to agree...

Haha, cute pictures! Love the one "trying to be a dog".

@Alaskan and @Beer can I hope your heads are fine this morning, but sure sounds like you guys had a fun night! As for food: certain floors I won't eat off, the 1 second rule doesn't even apply. Others, well, I'll make up a 30 second rule.

Injured quail #1 moved in with the older pair last night, so far so good. Injured quail #2 might have lost it's eye though.

It's a pretty female, so won't cull her just yet.

We had a power outage last night. Not sure how long it lasted but our clocks were 2 hours behind this morning. Thankfully the week old Tennessee Red quail babies in the brooder seem to bee just as crazy as before. It was a chilly night and we did leave windows open.

@BriardChickens look again, both of those crazy ducklings are swimming in the waterer, lol... don't know how, but they fit perfect as long as they kept circling in harmony...

Sorry bout your quail... but if it gets around fine it should be good for breeding since eye loss is from injury, right??

@RavynFallen some smart ducklings to figure that out.

As for injured quail #2, it should be fine for breeding. Right now it looks like it's trying to figure things out. Cocking it's head differently to look into "the other" direction. If I reach into the cage from her injured side she doesn't see my approach.
For now, I'll keep spraying the injury with vetricyn and hope the lid is just glued over the eye like it was for a day with quail #1.

The younger group is just over 6 weeks old and should start to lay pretty soon!

I love those little 6 week old quail (the younger group). They are always around my hands when I reach in to fill up feed and water. Yesterday they pulled the duct tape off that I have over the poky wire that injured the 2 quails. Just about duc taped 4 quails to the walls trying to fix it again. Silly things really.
How well do you think they'd handle a 1700 km move?

ducklings + water container = instant mess

I've seen them swimming in the mere space of a narrow brooder water trough. You just cannot keep them out of wet, which means everything in the near vicinity is wet.

Wet is fine... I can deal with wet... I would be HAPPY with just wet...

There was a LOT more than just water spread all over the place... :/
