That is raising kids right!!! Good job Outpost that's a great girl you got there... nice birds, too... :D
@Outpost JWB. That was such a sweet story. Your daughter doesn't sound spoiled at all.
:frow
Putting lonely chick under mama tonight, hopefully it works out. And hopefully she doesn't bite me again.
Good luck, beer... :fl
AWW cute. Good mama. I have two blue egg layers and got three blue eggs today. Go figure. I was hoping that maybe one point- of- lay black pullet could actually have laid the third egg...until I realized for that batch of eggs, only one blue egg hatched...which I believed was the roo I rehomed a month ago. . I would be so thrilled if it turned out that the blue egg that hatched in the incubator became the black female that is now at point of lay. I am pretty sure the bird out of the sole blue egg that hatched it was the roo that I have already rehomed over a month ago. Two of those blue eggs today came from one of my two EE's. If I actually hatched out an EE/Orp cross and it is laying blue eggs....I'll let you guys know.....and there is a Santa Claus!
Hey, long time!! Hope it is a new blue egg layer for ya... :)

Thanks, Ravyn. Temps moderate and I come out of hiding. :) I mowed a strip of backyard that was over my ankles today. Got all sorts of stuff done. Weather here....heavenly at 85 and low humidity.

Anyone else hearing El Nino may continue and give the US one heck of a winter this year? ...as in tons of rain and stormy...and cold?

Saw the El Nino news on the Evening News. Said it's the "Godzilla" of El Ninos. Also said that it's not unusual to have severe flooding after severe droughts. (Sorry CA!)

I am thinking this will be true. Cal Trans is scurrying about to fix a bunch of drain pipes around town... We are talking at lest six along a single road way that drain off residential areas.

Last time we got innundated.... It was about forty years ago.... Mission valley is where the San Diego river passes through to get to the ocean. There used to be a couple of cinemas there that had water marks on the walls indicating water levels during the last flood.. Dates were writtin on them. a good twelve feet up was the highest one.

Its a sea of condos now....Oh they made a drainage channel through the middle .... but if we get rain its ALL going to travel through the various creeks at once and fill Mission Valley again. Crazy.

We had intersections that were under three feet of water simply because the drains arent a big priority here. They get filled up with garbage....

So we will see what happens if we get rain....Too bad we cant divert it all and put it into a storage container for later.... Sigh.

Haha!

I just pictured a giant Evian bottle... Kinda like the Eiffel Tower... Set up to store all the water..

OK... I know it is serious, it was just a super funny image.

As to wonky weather... Yep... I am a bit at te "holding my breath" point up here..... Super giant dfference if we are just a touch above freezing and lots of precipitation, or right at, or below freezing.... And a great big amount of precipitation.

I LOVED this last winter of no plowing... But it has made the state a tinderbox, and also made the wells a bit slow... The winter before was right at freezing so the craziest amount of ice I have ever seen, and just enough snow that the plow truck was all beat to pieces! But the wonter before that, SERIOUSLY, it gave be PTSD! Having to plow twice a day, for two to fours hours each... Was more than a bit much.... And the perpetual panic that if I slept too long that the snow would build up, I wouldn't be able to plow it, and then I would have to call in the front end loaders for bookoo bucks! Then also the trying to get schooling into the kids, when they had to shovel for a minimum of three hours every sinle day

NIGHTMARE

I really don't want a repeat of that super snow year...........

So anyway.... It will be interesting whatever it is that we get.
